Interview: The Mambo Brothers Discuss Music & ‘LIFE’

Christian and Alan Anadon, better known as the Mambo Brothers, were raised in the clubbing utopia of Ibiza. Sons of the founders of iconic sunset venue Cafe Mambo, they were exposed to the world’s best DJs from a young age, and before long found themselves soundtracking parties across the island. Drawing inspiration from island regulars such as Pete Tong, Masters at Work and Jamie Jones, the brothers soon began turning heads on the White Isle with their innate ability to gauge the mood of the dancefloor. Slots at some of Ibiza’s most recognisable superclubs followed, before they landed their first residency at the state-of-the-art Hï Ibiza in 2017.

2019 is certainly the Mambo Brothers’ biggest year yet, with a stacked summer in some of the world’s biggest electronic events, alongside a landmark first appearance at Glastonbury, festival dates including regular Defected Ibiza appearances, Eden, ABODE in Amnesia, Ushuaïa for Calvin Harris’ residency, and a run of parties celebrating 25 years of Cafe Mambo.

Things are just as busy on the production front, with a release on Armada Subjekt giving the boys the opportunity to showcase yet another side to their multifaceted House sound. And following ‘If You Wanna’, the duo have released a pure balearic bliss, that perfectly captures the spirit of the Ibiza’s island, called ‘Optimo’ and accompanied by remixes by Leftwing : Kody and Christian Burkhardt.

To know more about the release, we had the chance to meet the boys for a few questions, to discuss the track, music, and of course.. future plans:

Hey guys, such a pleasure to have you! So, could you introduce The Mambo Brothers in a few words?

Two ibicenco guys travelling the world and loving life!

We’ve picked your last House gem ‘Optimo’, released a few months ago. Could you share an anecdote about it?

Optimo is one of our favorites tracks, we work on this project from our studio in Ibiza, above Mambo, it was winter or spring we don’t remember well, but it was a beautiful sunny day in Ibiza and we opened the doors to see and feel the see, all that we wanted was to try to transmit these Balearic happy melodic vibes that we were getting from working in such a magical environment…

What’s your inspirations? Any artist you would love to work as well?

Lots of them! Being grown in Mambo gave us the opportunity to meet and hang out with all the best DJs in the world since we were teenagers! It’s amazing to see how people like Pete Tong, Roger Sanchez, Morillo, Tenaglia, Dunmore still touring and strong after 25 years! About the collab, we have a big wish list! But due the relation that we have, maybe doing our first collab with Nic Fanciulli would be amazing.

You’ve been quite busy this summer, but now that you have unveiled ‘Optimo’, what is in store for Mambo Brothers’ fans?

Well we have LIFE coming out on Armada Subjekt on Nov 29th, plus more music on the way but we cannot say much about that yet… and of course we will still touring, we are doing Milan, Dubai, Barcelona and working on our first US tour!
