Tilly Valentine Goes On With Soulful Tune ‘Fit For A King’

Tilly Valentine just released her latest single, ‘Fit for a King’, another success following ‘Table of Two’. The BRIT School alumna was crowned “one of the revolutions of music this year” after her successful run of self-released singles.

Following Valentine’s BBC Radio 1Xtra premiere, she soothed the ears of many tastemakers including Jamz Supernova with her debut single ‘Coins’. Her self-directed music video being awarded Best Music Video by Music Republic Magazine, alongside a shortlisting for Best Female Artist, Best New Artist, Best Song/Songwriter and One To Watch in 2019.

Her soulful second single ‘Brick by Brick’ broadcast on BBC Radio 6 Music continued her success, with Shaun Keaveny describing Valentine’s style as “beautiful pop music”, alongside Tom Robinson who also spun the track as part of The BBC Introducing Mixtape. Valentine later collaborated with producer edbl and accumulated over 100,000 streams on their co-written love song, ‘Table for Two’.

Valentine describes her latest single; “Sat upon a throne, I offered you a seat/You’d rather sit alone, now I’m sat at your feet … ‘Fit for a King’ tells the story of a significant relationship that was cut short, and reflects on what it could have been”. Like a royal at heart, Valentine’s track embraces family blood, featuring her cousin on trumpet. Valentine effortlessly reveals her trademark jazz influences; teasing scat ideas through a classy, elegant vocal, complementing the retro blend of pop and soul.
