Pastel Releases A New Live Version Of Jazzy ‘Melt’

Kicking off with an upbeat, lo-fi synth lead, Melt is powered by Pastel’s signature de-tuned, funk toned guitar riffs, layered onto an R‘n’B inspired, house driven drum rhythm. Pastel harnesses his production skills to underline the track with a fully rounded, highly danceable bassline throughout the song. It’s jazz, dance, funk and hip-hop all at once, with a bossa nova breakdown to round it off as the perfect testament to Pastel’s effortless versatility. Melt encompasses the broad range of Pastel’s inspirations and is the perfect taste of what is to be expected from him throughout the rest of the year.

First uploaded over the summer as a Soundcloud exclusive, this new version of Melt comes with a filmed live session, performed on the exact same set-up Pastel will be bringing on stage for his upcoming live shows. The session was filmed in the warm intimacy of a private study at the heart of Paris’ Saint-Germain-des-Prés, across the road from the home of Serge Gainsbourg.
