Benin City Unveil Bold Dance-Pop Track ‘Mess Like Me’

Following ‘Hostiles’ and ‘Hold Them Close’, London-based Pop band Benin City returns with “Mess Like Me”, a real exploration of one’s toxic tendencies disguised as a dance-ready tropical house tune with indie twists.

Listen 'Mess Like Me' :

Vocalists, Shanaz Dorsett & Joshua Idehen, lend rich performances that range from polished and virtuosic (Dorsett), to raw and expressive (Idehen), while the bands production man, Tom Leaper, comes at listeners with an arsenal of choppy drums, horns, and Jamie XX inspired mallets.

“I had a look at myself and my toxicity in relationships after the breakdown of my marriage. Tom made a tropical house beat that went through different phases with Saturday, Monday and James Greenwood before ending up as you hear it now” details Joshua about the track.

Believe us, “Mess Like Me” is for fans of Indie Dance, House, Spoken Word.. and music that strives to showcase a number of diverse viewpoints and identities.
