Interview: Lookee Unveils Nu-Disco Anthem ‘That Feeling’

2017’s Highest Selling Beatport Dance Artist, Lookee returns to Club Sweat with That Feeling, a future Nu-Disco anthem equally at home at Paris Fashion week as it is at an Ibiza pool party. Off the back of her previous Club Sweat hit Queen For The Day” which received support from the likes of Purple Disco Machine, Mat.Joe and The Aston Shuffle plus clocking up over half a million streams, That Feeling” sees Lookee pay homage to Donna Summer’s ‘I Feel Love’, oozing flavours of early 80’s Italo Disco with its upfront arpeggiated bassline, synth stabs and undeniable groove.

For the release of “That Feeling”, Sidekick Music had the chance to ask a few questions to the multi-talented artist about her last single, music globally, and of course her future plans for 2020. All is below!

Hey, thanks for your time! Let’s begin with yourself, can you tell us a bit more about Lookee?

Hey, I’m half German and half Brazilian. I love art, fashion, travelling the world, meeting new people and food of course! In the past I’ve lived in Los Angeles and St. Tropez, but now I’m back in my hometown, Hamburg, Germany.

You’ve made a great impression with the just-out ‘That Feeling’. What’s your recipe to cook these treats? Any inspirations?

Thanks a lot. I’m overwhelmed by the feedback and support so far. I like to combine disco and funky/groovy elements in my productions. “That Feeling” has a catchy bassline which is reminiscent of Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” which is one of my favorite tracks of all time.

Following your inspirations, any artist you would love to work with?

There are def a few artists that inspire me for example Armand van Helden, Purple Disco Machine, Jamiroquai, etc. Of course it would be great to collaborate with one of these guys.

Now that you have unveiled ‘That Feeling’, what is in store now for Lookee fans? Maybe a Tour?

I’ve already finished a few new tracks and remixes already. A tour was planned but of course due to the Corona virus all my shows got cancelled, but I’m always positive, so I guess it’s the right time to be even more creative and try out some new things.

Finally, can you share five records that you can’t get enough of right now?

  • Hot Since 82 – Make Up
  • Purple Disco Machine – In My Arms
  • GW Harrison – Hear My Soul
  • A-Trak & Ferreck Dawn – Coming Home
  • Tori Amos – Professional Widow (Armand van Helden Remix)
