Hey Piero, thanks for your time! Let’s begin with yourself, can you tell us a bit more about you?
Hi! I’m Italian DJ and producer Piero Pirupa, now based in London. I started DJing about 20 years ago and then started producing a few years later. I made myself known with my music, especially a track called “Party Non Stop” released in 2012 on Defected / Desolat. I’ve been touring the world for more than 10 years and I love my job!
You’ve made a great impression with the just-out ‘Braindead’, spreading an anti-drug-message. What’s your recipe to cook these treats? Any inspirations?
I found that acapella in an old vinyl collection at home and immediately fell in love with it. I immediately created a track, because the message of the lyrics is very strong and it struck me so much. I worked the voice with my usual tech-house beats also giving it a 90’s rave feeling house sound. Honestly, it’s one of the strongest tracks I’ve done in recent years and has a strong impact on the dancefloor!
Following your inspirations, any artist you would love to work with?
There are so many artists that I would love to work with, not only in electronic music because I’m a big fan also of punk, rock, disco, Chicago house, Detroit techno, UK Big Beat…these are my roots and there are so many artists that inspire me every day.
What can we expect for the rest of the year, do you have some secret plans to share with us?
There will be new releases, a potential new single on my label NONSTOP coming in April and I will be touring South America, Australia, Asia, and Europe so its definitely going to be a busy year. There will also be a video coming out soon for ‘Braindead’ featuring a well-known TV personality so that’s exciting!
Quick bonus-question, what makes a good party for Piero Pirupa?
First the music, then the people!
