It’s been an amazing fifteen years since Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird Records first spruced up the dance music landscape, and such an incredible landmark should never go by unnoticed. Looking to celebrate this massive milestone accordingly, Claude VonStroke shook hands with Amsterdam, New York and London-based record label Armada Music to partner up on a very special project: ‘Freaks And Beaks’, the fourth artist album of the American House phenomenon.
With a grand total of eleven tracks covering almost every angle of the underground sound spectrum, ‘Freaks And Beaks’ brings with it an air of invisibility and sophistication synonymous with Claude VonStroke and his Dirtybird label. The album release is scheduled for February and set to go hand in hand with a trove of cool things, including a triple gatefold vinyl pack, a six-part documentary series and over a dozen album tour dates in London, Berlin, South America, Asia and more of the world’s most vibrant dance music hotspots.
Dirtybird started out as a series of parties between friends, but rapidly grew into one of the most tastemaking imprints. The L.A.-based label, which cultivates the creative exploits of artists like Rebuke, FISHER, Walker & Royce, Eli Brown, Shiba San and Justin Martin, scooped up an IDMA for ‘Underground Label Of The Year’ twice and annually hosts the Dirtybird Campout Festival.
Sonically, VonStroke has released three original artist albums, a remix album, and a live album most recently recorded when he closed the famed Movement Festival in his original hometown of Detroit, Michigan. Some other music highlights include working on records with Bootsy Collins, Rihanna, Disclosure and Green Velvet as well as a few #1 and #2 hits on Beatport. His Dirtybird label, which has grown into a full-fledged events, clothing and music brand over the last 15 years, continues to surprise and innovate in the underground dance scene, releasing an enigmatic combination of house, funk, dirty-bass and electronica.
