Hey Gaëtan, thanks for your time ! Let’s start by talking about you, can you tell us a bit more about GABA ?

Hey ! I’m Gaëtan Baillet, aka Gaba. 25 years old DJ Producer from Toulouse, France. I started producing in 2013 but things are getting serious since one year. I make House, Disco House and TechHouse. And I love cats !

You’ve been quite busy lately, with multiple releases on Nervous Records and a distinguished arrival on Tchami’s Confession among others. What are the influences and inspirations behind your tracks ?

Yeah I released a lot of tracks recently ! I listen to a lot of different styles. Classic, Jazz, electronic music of course. It’s important be open to find some inspiration. I’m a lot influenced by House of the 90’s, especially for the rhythmic and the vibe. I love funk and disco for melodies. But I like to add a modern touch to all my tracks. Labels like Toolroom, Defected, Confession or Relief inspire me a lot to find new tricks. All theses influences mixed define my music today.

Being considered as one of rising acts in the House scene, any good artist tips to stand out from the rest ?

Actually some tips everybody says. Work a lot, don’t expect to be famous after 2 years of producing. Be true and positive, and don’t try to imitate other artists. Find something that makes you unique in the way you make music, the way you act and the way you are.

Your most memorable record ? One that made you start making music ?

The first ever dance music that made me want to start producing was “Freeform Five – No More Conversations (Mylo Remix)”. I was amazed by the bassline and the vocal. And the first electronic music that made me have shivers was “Arno Cost & Arias – Magenta”.

What are your plans for the rest of 2019 ?

I have one official remix for a big french artist coming soon, a techhouse track signed on a good american label and some collab coming. Now I focus on my music and I plan to make a lot of bangers (I hope haha).

Quick bonus-question, what makes a good party for GABA ?

For a good party: good friends, good music, good beer and Attention à la mousse !
