[IT] Progressive House Talent Kosling Backs With ‘Escape’

Returning to Revealed Recordings following the success of his collaboration with the label’s most prospective young brothers Jac & Harri on ‘Without You’, dance music heavyweight Thomas Gold this time recruits the multi-talented newcomer Kosling on the progressive powerhouse ‘Escape’, featuring quickly becoming go-to vocalist David Shane.

As David Shane’s delicate poise invites the listener toward the dancefloor, uplifting synths create a warm and positive soundscape while a mainstage big build turns the feel-good factor up to ten. Dropping in with powerful big room flavours, the track is every inch the summertime anthem prepped for action at this year’s festival season.

Listen 'Escape' :

Starting in 2018, Kosling made a remarkable entry into the world of electronic music and particularly among progressive house’s lovers! His first track “Believe” was a real success, allowing him to release a remix for Thomas Gold on Armin Van Buuren’s imprint label Armada Music. Then, the French artist did a series of progressive house tunes on reputable labels such as Proximity, Protocol Recordings, Steve Angello’s Size Records and Revealed Recordings, and performed alongside artists like Deniz Koyu, D.O.D or Magnificence.

More than an review, Sidekick Music had the chance to meet Kosling to discuss his new release, music, and obviously get some exclusives about what will happen in 2020. Enjoy!

Hey Kosling, thanks for your time! Let’s begin with yourself, can you tell us a bit more about you?

My name is Kosling, I’ve been a producer and Dj for about 7/8 years. The project Kosling was launched less than 2 years ago and I produce Progressive House under this name.

You’ve made a great impression with the just-out ‘Escape’, collaborating again with Thomas Gold. What’s your recipe to cook these treats? Any inspirations?

We definitely had a lot of positive feedbacks on this track, we hope it will be as successfull as our first collaboration Wildest Dream, released on protocol recordings last year. I don’t have a precise recipe but for this style I focus on the melody because this is what we will remember with maybe also the vocals.

I am inspired by a lot of artists such as Alesso, Avicii or Axwell which were the pioneers of the genre. I am not trying to renew the style because the best progressive house hits have already been done but I play with nolstalgia and maybe this is why it works.

Following your inspirations, any artist you would love to work with?

Those would be more singers than producers, for example Chris Martin from Coldplay, John Martin or Sia.

What can we expect for the rest of the year, do you have some secret plans to share with us?

I already released 2 tracks this month : Like Home on Proximity and Escape on Revealed Recordings, this year I will release more musics than in the past years, many collaborations but also remixes.

Last but not least, what single night out has been the most memorable for you as a DJ? And as an attendee

The most memorable night out as a Dj was my first gig last year in Osaka at Piccadilly Club, one of the biggest club in Japan. Japaneses are really responsives to progressive house and they knew all my tracks by heart, that was an amazing experience, we are working to go back there this year.

My best memory as attendee was Steve Angello at EMF. He is really an inspiring artist for me in music as much as in his communication.
